Ransomware viruses are already an absolute nuisance, and can be disastrous to businesses. A new variant of it, called Popcorn Time is even worse. It plays on desperation and friendship. Once you get it, it encrypts your files and holds them for ransom. You are given the option to pay for the ransom, sure, like all other ransomware viruses, BUT, you are also given the chance to nominate (infect) two of your friends in order to get a free decryption key.
This is terrible because depending on the level of desperation, an unsuspecting person has to watch out and not trust even their own friends.
Please, be careful and don’t install or look at anything related to “Popcorn Time.”
